More Studying For Finals
So I'm proud to say that I think I aced my sociology test today! I highly advise everyone to take Intro to sociology when they go to college because it is one of those classes that has very easy concepts to learn but really make you think! It makes you very aware of what people in the world do and why they do it. It teaches you about how people act in certain situations and it made me change the way I acted and thought about a few things. I have another final tomorrow at 10:00, then I have to meet with people about my organization, FMLA. (Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance) After that, I am packing up my car and driving home just so I can go home and finish my final papers! Well, I need sleep for my busy day ahead of me!

Finals week has started :(
So finals week is already here :( This week is full of stress, no sleep, final projects, research papers, and staying in the library all night! hre library is open 24 hours a day, which is nice so that people can study whenever they want! Also, all of the dorms have 24 hour quiet hours, which means that you cannot be heard outside of your door. You can't even talk in the hallway! They lift the quiet hours from 12-1:00 and 6-7:00 so that people can vaccum their rooms or talk in the hallway. Its harsh, but it'snice when you're the one studying! Last semester there were many activities going on in the basement of the library. People were makig stress balls and learning relaxation techniques so that they could keep their sanity during finals! Hall counsel is also helping by having food availible in Becht every night this week at 8:00. Tomorrow is milk and cookies and Tuesday is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and veggies! I have so much more studying to do, so I bettter get to it! I'll keep everyone updated with my finals! Good luck to me!

Winter in Clarion
It finally feels like winter in Clarion! I'm not really excited about the snow and cold, but is was really weird when it was 60* in November! There have been snow flurries almost every day for the last week, making it look really pretty outside. Although it looks nice, it makes you want to stay inside as long as you can! It's starting to feel like Christmas here because of all of the decorations! (I'll post pics in a few days) I'm not actually in Clarion, (There was a death in my family) so you all will see pics when I get back and take them! I'm studying for finals and trying to do my last few projects. I only have to be in Clarion next week for one final on Monday so I can leave early in the week. I also have one final online (for my intro. To paralegal studies class), one legal memorandum to write (for my methods of legal research class), and a 10-12 page debate paper (for my argumentation and debate class). Finals this semester are much easier than last semester! Although I am looking forward to the semester ending, I am going to miss my dorm room and all of my friends! Christmas should be pretty great this year! Well, I have to start my papers, so expect to read another post when I get frustrated!

Mr. CU pageant!
I am happy to report that people at Clarion University are growing up a little bit and becoming very open minded! Last Thursday, Clarion University held the "Mr. CU pageant!" Normally men do not take part in pageants, but this was widely accepted through campus! The winner of the pageant was Jed Miller, so congrats to you! I was very surprised at how many people accepted this and was also impressed because I feel that the world is taking a small step to change and stray away from the sexist ideas that exist today!

Debate info
Well I was terrified about the debate, but it went great! My first debate I argued against pro-life and actually won! I won my first debate! My second debate was on parental notification, and I lost on a dumb technicality, but I debated great. My third debate was the hardest because it was about freeing the detainees in Guantanamo Bay and I lost. I had to argue that they shouldn't get trials, but because I didn't know much a bout it, it was very hard. Regardless, I spoke very condifently and trudged through! I had very good arguments and confused the other side! I was glad its over, but the experience was fun!

My First Debate!
This Saturday, I will be participating in my very first intercollegiate debate! I'm not on the debate team, but I have to participate in it because of my Argumentation and Debate class. My professor Jim Lyle is the advisor of the debate team, so we have to participate in this debate for a grade. I am debating that Planned Parenthood v. Casey should be overruled because parental notification is unconstitutional. I'm very nervous because I'm not sure how the debate is going go! If I could watch a debate before I have to debate, I would feel so much better! Well, I have to go back to working on my debate speech, so if anyone has any helpful hints, please help me!!!

Hypnotized!
There is so many fun activities going on on Campus this week! Tonight down in Gemmel Damian-The Hypnotist is performing at 9:00 PM in the Multipurpose Room. I'm hoping to get my homework done so that I can go down to it! This Saturday, there is going to be a Casino Night where you can play Blackjack, Bingo, Texas Hold 'em, and a whole bunch of other games! It's going to be in Gemmel from 7-11 PM, and they're also going to have free food and prizes! Next Monday, Keeling Health Center is hosting an activity to try to get people to quit smoking! It's called "Adopt a Smoker!" It will be in Gemmel from 12-3:30 PM, and everyone will be able to adopt a smoker to help them kick the bad habit! If anyone really wants to quit smoking, let me know and I can get you a stop smoking kit from the health center! Well, I have homework to do, so I better get to it! I'll post again closer to Thanksgiving and let you know how Clarion University is celebrating!

Happy Halloween everyone! Halloween is my favorite holiday! Unfortunately, because I don't want to fall behind with my school work, I wasn't able to participate in any of the activities on campus today: ( There was a sorority having a "Monster Ball" in Gemmel, and Nair hall was holding a party. Also, there was trick-or-treating in Clarion, which many college students took full advantage of! Because I couldn't get out, I do not have any pics, but I will get some of the costumes and post them this week! I am planning to attend a very interesting debate tomorrow. In Hart Chapel, the Clarion University Young Democrats and the Clarion College Republicans will debate the issues that are important in this years election. It starts at 7:30, so I'm pretty sure that I will be able to attend. I got this sudden interest in politics when I recieved my absentee balot for voting. I hope everyone who is 18 is voting next week!!!

Halloween is coming to Becht Hall!
Well, you can tell that it's almost Halloween! This is my favorite holiday, so expect to see a lot about it on my page! There are a few things goin on for Halloween, like this Friday there is a trip to Kennywood. They are also selling care packages for $10. In my hall, the RA's are holding a competition for the best decorated door. Here are a few pics! Lemme know which one you like!

This is the door where the cat came from! See the little black box on the door? That's where the cats are! You can "adopt" one too if you want!
This is a little black cat made out of pipe cleaners that one girl made and was giving away. I decided to "adopt" a little black, unlucky cat for Halloween!
Countdown for Halloween!

This door has lights around it, but they weren't on when I took the picture. They also have a flag that you can partially see on the bottom.

There was even a car show, and tomorrow there is kariokee in front of the court house! On Saturday, they will hold the annual ALF parade and that is one event not to be missed! There will be floats, groups walking, and people throwing candy! This is a pisture of a "Poorman's Caramel Apple." It is only sold at Cavatelli's, but it is soooo worth the $5!!! Come and have a good time at ALF!

Family Day!

Family day was a lot of fun! Here are a few pics! There is me, my brother Tom (in grey) and my sisters boyfriend Matt climbing the rock wall in the rec center. It's really tall and fun to climb! The best part? It's free for students! The last picture is of a blow up fighting ring that they had outside. My brother and I are fighting and his girlfriend Karissa is jumping! I had to much fun that day!

Labor Day!
Hello everyone! Today is Labor Day, so that means no classes! This first week of classes went really good for me! My professors are really nice and many of them told us that they want us to challenge what they say if we don't agree! There is so much going on on campus this week. I'm especially loking foreward to Wednesday night when we can go down to Gemmel Student Center to get 2 goldfish and make our own aquarium for them with colored rocks and plants. The best part is that it's free! I did it last year and I kept the goldfish for quite a while! (until I took it home and my cat got to the tank!) I'm also excited for next Saturday the 16th, which is Family Day! They always have fun activities planned and the football game is always interesting. (Hopefully we'll win this year!) There are a lot of other activities planned for this
month, like open mic nights and campus fest! Campus fest is going to be the 17th, with Gary Allen, Craig Morgan, and Jamie O'Neal. I'm definitely going! It's only $15 for students and $25 for public.
This semester is looking very promising for me in terms of grades. My classes are very interesting and I'm excited to get into learning stuff. I'm still living in Becht Hall and I love it. It's in the middle of everything on campus and all of my friends are here. Well, I guess thats about it for now! I have to get ready for class tomorrow!

Friday again!
Today is Friday again! I just love the weekends! The junior open house went great and the tour was a lot of fun! I had really nice families in my group which made it better! The Ludacris concert also had a great turnout. They sold almost every ticket! I didn't go, but a lot of people that are on the UAB actually met Ludacris and even got pictures taken with him! Tonite there is a football game here. Well, actually, its a scrimmage. It starts at 6:00 so I am definitely going. I am excited to see how our team is doing with the new coaching staff. I have a lot of faith in them and I believe that we will be such a great team next semester! At least I hope so! On Monday, McKelvey students from Harmony Highschool are coming for a visit and I get to spend the day with them and give them a tour of campus! I am a McKelvey scholar too, so i will be able to give them some advice and insight into Clarion. We only have one week left of classes, then a week of finals. I'm so excited, yet at the same time I'm nervous and scared. I'm excited to be done with my first year, and that also scares me because the year went soooooo fast! I'm nervous about finals, but I know I'll do alright! During finals week, the RA's and hall council has planned so many fun activities! One night we are going to have a Barbecue and a water fight outside, one night we will have pizza, another night we will have a stress free zone which means there wil be people giving massages for free in the lobby, and another night we will have ice cream. My RA's are really great and always plan awesome activities. For example, this week we tye-dyed tee shirts, then the next night we had a game night! There is always something to do! Well, I better start working!

Friday!!!
Today is Friday, and I am so happy! Tomorrow is Junior open house here on campus and I have to give my first tour! I'm a little bit nervous, but mostly anxious! I am at work right now and it is such a slow day. It was a beautiful day earlier, but now it looks like rain. I'm mad that it is also supposed to rain tomorrow. I really don't want to walk around campus in the rain so I hope that it rains tonite and not at all tomorrow! Also, tomorrow is campus fest, which we have Ludacris coming to play at! I really want to go to the concert, but I'm not sure if I will. THe tickets are only $25 and it is a once in a lifetime opportunity to go, so I might. I'm also very happy because my boyfriend is transfering to Clarion! He is currently at Bloomsburg, but he is coming here next semester! Yay! I'm also trying to recruit a few of my other friends to transfer to here. Well, its almost 5 o'clock and that means time to leave work! I think I am going to go to the mall for some new clothes! Our mall here in Clarion is small, but we have a JC penny's and a Fashion Bug, which both always have really cute clothes! I'm out for today, but I will try to write tomorrow about the open house! I hope I do ok on the tour! Whatever happens, happens!
